Welcome!
Hello! My name is Pa. I am an individual, mother, wife, daughter, and a Hmong-American woman. I became a psychotherapist because I grew up witnessing how mental health is often dismissed in diverse ethnic communities. I saw how generational trauma affects our minds, bodies, and souls. These experiences fueled my passion to become a therapist who can connect and support individuals with diverse backgrounds.
I specialize in working with adult individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. I take a client-centered approach where I tailor our sessions to fit your flow. I provide a safe and supportive space for you to just be yourself. Together, we will identify and set goals that address your needs and concerns.
I am currently providing individual therapy via Telehealth in CA.

In our first session, we will explore and identify your primary concerns. I would also like to know more about your strengths, what you enjoy, and get a better understanding of who you are.

Most of my family, friends, and peers describe me as ocean waves. Something peaceful and calm, but when the tide comes I can also be passionate, fierce, and strong. And that is how I am in therapeutic work and outside in my personal life. I value clear, open, and honest communication to create a supportive and empowering environment. I help you find the flow of healing that meets your pace. I will also provide a gentle or strong push as needed too. I enjoy working with the intersectionality of culture, spirituality, and mental health. I also like to keep us on track according to the goals that you have set. But the overall measure of success would be your improved quality of life.

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Solution-Focused Therapy, Somatic practices and mindfulness. I also integrate art and narrative therapy for clients who like to be more creative in expressing themselves.
Everyone's experiences and mental health needs may be similar, but also uniquely different. Therefore, I like to use a flexible therapy approach where I blend techniques and various approaches that is tailored to your needs and strengths. I adapt these approaches to your rhythm; taking into account of your life experiences, culture, spirituality, and identity.

Some fun facts about me outside of the being a therapist:
I grew up watching Anime and still do. (I am a huge Ghibli fan.)
I have a cranky and anxious Pomeranian named Wonton. She always lays by my office door. (You might hear her in the background sometimes during sessions.)
I like to explore and try new foods, places, and the outdoors when I am not too busy.
I am part of the Asian Sandwich Generation. Which means I have responsibilities and care for my own immediate family and aging parents. Just add in a layer of cultural influences as a South East Asian (Hmong) and growing up as an American. All this mixed together = I understand. We are in this together, trying to live life the best we can.
I identify as a Christian and my faith is what grounds me in this work and what is happening in our world. This is why I see value in spiritual health as an important component to your journey too.
